My Past Life is Riddled With Many Sins - Chapter 41
Why is Friedrich here?
Prince Iskanda coming out of Rupert of Gilagon’s room, and Friedrich, upon closer inspection, is also a student at the academy? And now she’s in Friedrich’s room?
Confused, Regina tried to piece together the information she had and addressed him by the name she had deduced.
“Yes, senior Valen.”
Among the students mentioned for their stunning looks, one, specifically associated with a divine aura typical of the temple, was said to be Valen. So, Friedrich is Valen, and Prince Iskanda is likely Darien.
He remained silent, causing Regina to feel awkward, wondering if she had made a mistake. Was this Darien and not Valen who was Prince Iskanda?
As she hesitated, he spoke up.
“It feels thrilling to hear it.”
The silver in his eyes shimmered mysteriously between his smoothly folding eyelids. For some reason, he seemed quite amused.
“To live to see the day when I’m addressed as a senior by you.”
“Well, it’s rare to hear this from a commoner, haha. But at the Imperial Academy, the principle is that all students are equal, regardless of their status.”
Regina pretended not to grasp his meaning and rambled on.
Of course, it must have been a unique experience for him. In Yekarna’s lifetime, the word ‘senior’ would have never been part of her vocabulary. Besides, Yekarna and Friedrich were of the same age.
“So, um, why did you bring me here?”
“To help you out of a bind.”
His lips formed an attractive curve.
“Being caught entering the boys’ dormitory at this hour could complicate your school life, so I thought I’d hide you.”
If discovered, she would have faced a significant penalty and been subject to all sorts of scandal. Yet, even without his intervention, she wouldn’t have been caught.
Yekarna was always worried about causing harm to Prince Iskanda but never feared the reverse. The disparity in their strengths was too apparent. It was a fact that remained unchanged even in their reincarnated lives.
In the worst case, Regina would have knocked Prince Iskanda unconscious and carefully laid him down in a corner, ensuring he wasn’t trampled upon by anyone accidentally opening the door.
However, she couldn’t argue that she didn’t need his help since she was capable of escaping danger on her own, being a half Swordmaster.
“Ah… thank you. I’ll be leaving then.”
Regina made her announcement while avoiding his gaze.
In the silent room where only their breathing could be heard, in a space where nothing could be seen except him. For some reason, it became uncomfortably hard to keep facing him.
She wanted to end the interaction here.
‘I’ll deal with Fathom later. For now, I need to return to the dormitory.’
Her mind was too scrambled to do anything else. The shock from encountering Prince Iskanda still had her reeling, and meeting Friedrich was nearly the final blow. It was best to rest for now.
“Who said you could decide that?”
Startled by his calmly yet eerily toned question as she inched towards the door, Regina looked up. The chill in his voice raised the hairs on the back of her neck.
“You owe a debt for the help you received.”
“Now? It’s late, perhaps another time…”
“I don’t believe in ‘another time’.”
He firmly replied, locking eyes with her and adding.
“From my experience, those who say ‘another time’ often don’t keep it.”
Feeling guilty, Regina averted her gaze. Honestly, she was at a loss for words. Yekarna’s sins in her past life were indeed severe. But, conscience aside, she couldn’t let herself be manipulated by him.
“And if I refuse?”
“It’s one or the other. I will report to a professor by dawn that you intruded into the boys’ dormitory. You will receive demerit points and likely have a one-on-one meeting with the dean. Or… you could kill me to keep me silent.”
Faced with such extreme options, she gasped. Essentially, he was saying she either pays back for the help, kills him, or spends a delightful time with the dean.
Of course, murdering him was unthinkable for Regina, even in her wildest dreams. That left her with either paying him or being summoned by Skyler….
“Ah, it’s best to avoid demerit points. If you have to come to the Dean’s office for discipline, I plan to give a special spank to young Regina.”
She doesn’t want anything to do with Skyler if possible.
Suppressing a sigh welling up from deep within, Regina let out her breath.
“Let’s hear it then. What is it that you want?”
“Hmm…”
He trailed off, yet his eyes made it abundantly clear what he wanted. Had Regina been truly an ordinary twenty-year-old, she might have been oblivious to the raw lust rippling through him…
As her body tensed up when sensing the danger, he pinned her against the wall, trapping her between his arms.
“It seems we have a mutual understanding.”
The drop in his voice sent shivers down her spine. It was more so due to the palpable excitement it conveyed vividly that it felt like she could grasp it in her hand.
It felt as if she was being hunted. While accustomed to hunting, being hunted was unfamiliar territory for her. She’d always been on the side of the hunter. No one had looked at her with such unbridled intent to devour her.
Feeling the shift in their dynamics from her past life brought a shiver down her spine. Then, soft lips grazed her ear.
“Seems like you were thinking along the same lines, weren’t you?”
Regina flinched and her shoulders shook. She honestly couldn’t deny it. Her mind was all too aware of the pleasure he could provide. It wasn’t easy to not succumb to known temptations.
Though things had changed since their past lives, he still possessed the appearance that appealed to her tastes, and he emitted an enticing scent.
