Life as a Tower Maid: Locked up with the Prince - Side Story 15
Side Story 15

—
On her birthday, Adela woke up at dawn and called for Blanc.
Sensing the magical call, Blanc instinctively knew it must be something important.
When Adela called him secretly, there was always a significant reason behind it.
Blanc, having entered the room, brushed his silver hair back and smiled brightly.
“Adela, what’s the matter…?”
“Has the world ever changed?”
Adela, too, knew from her books how extraordinary a dragon and contractor were.
They were the only beings capable of traversing time and dimensions.
It was widely known that they could change the past, present, and future.
Mom never lies to me.
Adela struggled to deduce the truth based on the information her mother, Jung-in, had given her.
At five years old, she was at an age where her thoughts were deepening.
If Mom said the world had changed, then it had. She just didn’t understand what it meant. So she decided to ask Blanc!
But Adela’s bold question didn’t faze Blanc at all.
“The world, changed…? And why are you asking this…”
Having not overheard the conversation between Adela and Jung-in, Blanc couldn’t grasp the context of the question.
Sitting with her arms crossed in front of Blanc, Adela shook her head.
“Mom was sad. How can you call yourself her contractor if you don’t even know this?”
“…I messed up.”
Whenever Adela was like this, it was best to just admit fault. Even if it seemed like she was just being stubborn, there was always a reason behind it.
More importantly…
‘She’s too cute to resist.’
Being surrounded by adults all the time made Adela seem even more endearing.
Even Alexander would bring back gifts for Adela every time he returned from his dimension travels.
And though it seemed like Blanc was always giving in, he believed he was maintaining a boundary. At least, that’s what he thought.
“Did you ever change the world with Mom?”
Adela’s red eyes met Blanc’s directly. Pretty eyes that were similar yet different from Albert’s.
In that fleeting moment, Blanc hesitated. And Adela, like a ghost, caught that hesitation.
“You have.”
“No, I haven’t…”
“Blanc can’t lie.”
“No…”
As she was standing before Blanc, Adela used magic to float into the air.
With Adela staring straight into his eyes now, Blanc was at a loss. She’s right, she’s right!
Blanc cursed his inability to lie.
But he had never had a reason to lie until now. With a sigh, Blanc raised his hands.
“I can’t tell you.”
“Tell me.”
Adela floated down slightly and clasped Blanc’s hands tightly.
Feeling the warmth from her small hands, Blanc flinched. But he couldn’t bring himself to pull away.
This remarkable future emperor knew exactly how to melt a dragon’s heart.
He wondered if this ability to draw people in was inherited.
But no matter how much Adela pressed, he couldn’t tell her.
“Jung-in didn’t tell you everything, did she? So I can’t say anything either.”
“I don’t wanna know everything. I just wanna know why Mom is sad.”
“……”
Adela found herself in a difficult situation too.
By this point, Blanc would usually have caved in to her, but not this time, which made her anxious.
She rarely encountered situations where things didn’t go her way, so this stirred up her determination.
“Tell me.”
Adela’s hand moved. Despite her young age, she knew how powerful she was.
She wasn’t sure if she could overpower a dragon, but she was willing to try.
Blanc noticed the magic emanating from Adela’s hand and his smile faded as he asked,
“Are you planning to use magic on me?”
“……”
Facing Blanc’s now expressionless face, Adela realized what she had been about to do.
She was about to force Blanc to do something against his will.
‘I did something wrong.’
Guilt quickly overcame Adela.
No matter how comfortable she was with Blanc, she had learned that using magic to compel someone against their will was wrong!
‘Blanc’s always good to me.’
Worry filled her mind—what if Blanc started to dislike her? Tears welled up in Adela’s eyes.
“I’m sorry. I was wrong. I really didn’t mean to do that to Blanc.”
“D-Don’t cry…”
Blanc was equally flustered.
He rarely saw anyone cry, especially not Adela, so he had no idea how to handle the situation.
His hands, wandering aimlessly, eventually pulled Adela into a tight hug.
“I was wrong… I just saw Mom sad… And I have the power to make her not sad, so I just wanna do that…”
Despite her hiccups, Adela explained her situation earnestly.
Blanc patted her back and nodded.
“Is that so? I see…”
He understood Adela’s reaction.
He had seen both Jung-in and Albert occasionally reminisce about the time before the world changed.
Now that everything was peaceful, Albert and his relationships with those around him had grown more distant.
The event that had once bonded them all ‘that day’ no longer existed.
