I Unintentionally Cured the Grand Duke’s Insomnia - Chapter 101
51. — Take Away His Trauma! (1)
Fortunately, there were so many children’s books in Blaise. Perhaps it was the combination of having a daughter who had been sick since she was young and parents who cherished her. There were more than children’s books, all of which were well-worn from frequent reading.
Lily seemed to recall old memories while she looked at the children’s books she had brought.
“Oh my gosh, I didn’t know that was still around. It’s ‘Angel and Caramel,’ do you remember?”
I glanced at the storybook that she was holding and nodded vaguely. The cover depicted a delicious-looking sweet house.
‘…It seemed that Hansel and Gretel became Angel and Caramel.’
As I flipped through the children’s books that all seemed like I’d seen them somewhere before, Lily also took a seat across the table as if she was reminiscing about old memories. I sighed lightly as I looked at the children’s books adorned with beautiful illustrations. Since it was my first time writing a children’s book, I was worried about whether I would be able to do it well.
Just as I thought so, Cain’s voice, which had been low, suddenly came to mind at that moment.
〈 I shouldn’t be happy, Adelia. 〉
〈 There has never been a story like that in any of the books you’ve ever read to me, has it? 〉
“Why wouldn’t there be? Just wait. If it doesn’t exist, I’ll make it and read it to him.”
“Yes?”
“No, nothing.”
I looked at Lily, who had turned her attention back to the storybook again, and quickly picked up the next book.
Easy-to-understand content, a clear moral story, and cute illustrations on each page for easy imagination seemed to be the main characteristics of children’s books. Once I got a sense of how to write it, it didn’t seem too difficult. If there were a problem, it would probably be what kind of story to write. I racked my brain while tapping the paper Lily had brought along with the storybooks.
What kind of story should I write? I hoped it was a story that was both instructive and could take away Cain’s trauma…
I rested my chin on the table and stared at the empty paper. As I scribbled around, a thought occurred to me, and I quickly wrote it down.
‘…I hope that this fairy tale I created will bring him some comfort.’

“It’s, it’s done!”
It took a whole day.
I raised the children’s book I had been creating, sitting motionless from yesterday evening until now before I placed the book with an illustration of a boy smiling cutely on the table. Having been staying up all night just making the book, my whole body felt stiff and sore.
As I stretched in my seat and rotated my stiff shoulders and neck, a groaning sound escaped my lips.
“Ugh. The illustrations are a bit, just a bit clumsy, but it can’t be helped. I’m not an artist, after all.”
If I had more time, I would have been able to hire an artist to make it of higher quality, but for now, conveying the content inside was more important than the illustrations. I read through the completed short fairy tale once again, checking if there were any inconsistencies in the story. Coincidentally, Lily knocked and entered.
“Young Lady, for the meal… Are you still doing something?”
“Ung. I wanted to get it down while I was sitting down.”
While Lily shook her head with a surprised expression and then approached the desk, I opened my mouth again while tidying up the messy desk.
“Oh, I’ll have dinner when I come back. It might take a while, so I can just have something simple like soup?”
“Where are you going?”
“I’m going to visit the Grand Duke’s residence for a moment. I have something I want to tell Cain.”
Looking at her puzzled face, I held up the storybook I had spent the whole day creating. Lily approached the table with her eyes shining at the beautifully designed children’s book.
“You haven’t been out all day. Were you making this?”
“Yeah. I thought I might try debuting as a fairy tale writer this time.”
When I handed her the children’s book I had made with a playful smile, she quickly took it as if she had been waiting for it. I looked at Lily, who was reading the storybook with a curious look on her face, and carefully waited for her review.
All of a sudden, the day I first published a book came to mind.
“What do you think? Is it okay?”
Feeling nervous, I couldn’t wait and asked Lily, who had a strange expression throughout reading the fairy tale. It was only when she closed the last page that she asked in a cautious voice.
“I’m asking just in case, but you don’t have any plans to publish this book, do you…?”
“Why?”
“I think the writing is good. It’s really good, though the illustrations are a bit… It looks like it’s drawn by, well, a three or four-year-old.”
I puffed up my cheeks and snatched the book back in response to her overly honest remark. The next moment, a fiery voice came out of my mouth as I answered.
“I’m not going to publish it. I made it just for one person.”
“His Highness the Grand Duke?”
The look on Lily’s face as she asked me that question was somewhat sinister. I nodded my head uncomfortably and asked her with an uneasy gaze.
“By the way, how did your visit to Madam Passe go?”
“Oh, Madam Passe said the contract was supposed to be drawn up about four weeks after the publication date. It’s been about two weeks since it was published, so I thought we could schedule a meeting about two weeks from now.”
“Is that so?”
