I Think I’m a Horror Game Villain - Chapter 99
Chapter 99
She woke from an exhausted, tear-soaked sleep only to immediately burst into tears again.
‘I’ve done all I can.’
Dekir ignored Rose’s weeping and reviewed the two guidebook he’d received from the third-floor caretaker. One was identical to the one Heyna had received—or rather, the original third-floor guide before number twelve had been erased. And the other…
[Guide to the Third Floor for ‘Dekir’ and ‘Rose Liverton’]
1. Three participants (Heyna Blaise, Zion Delius, and Tommy) will proceed with the game having completely forgotten ‘Dekir’ and ‘Rose Liverton.’
2. From 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM, ‘Dekir’ and ‘Rose Liverton’ will be invisible and inaudible to the other participants. However, this does not apply within the library.
3. ‘Dekir’ and ‘Rose Liverton’ cannot leave the third floor until one of the participants remembers them.
4. ‘Dekir’ and ‘Rose Liverton’ may engage in various acts to restore the participants’ memories, but the following are prohibited:
i. Directly mentioning their names to the participants.
ii. Harming the participants physically or causing them undue stress.
iii. Restricting the participants’ movements.
ex) Taking an unconscious participant to the ‘Room of Truth.’
* Should these prohibitions be violated, ‘Napolitan’ may take appropriate preventative or corrective measures.
5. Entering the ‘Room of Truth’ will restore all memories. However, this only applies to the participant who enters the room.
6. ‘Napolitan’ guarantees the safety of everyone present (including Dekir Demeter and Rose Liverton) and will fulfill their duties as a servant until the agreed-upon deadline. They will also actively cooperate with the participants’ requests.
7. If the third floor is not vacated within four days, the souls of all present will belong to ‘Napolitan.’
A special guide prepared for Dekir and Rose.
‘Strange… the game on the third floor wasn’t originally like this.’
Heyna’s third-floor guide. And the special guide for Dekir and Rose. For some reason, this third-floor caretaker’s game was completely different from the ‘Napolitan’ game Dekir knew.
Originally, the rules set by the third-floor caretaker, Napolitan, had to be followed. Failure to comply resulted in ‘Napolitan’ intervening, making escape increasingly difficult. But this time…
‘We can’t leave unless we break the rules.’
The third-floor caretaker valued the rules. Why would they create a situation where ‘breaking the rules is the condition for clearing the stage?’ He hadn’t found the answer yet.
‘I need to go out and clear my head.’
Dekir’s body became completely translucent as he stepped into the hallway. According to the guide, there were no restrictions on Dekir and Rose moving around, only that they couldn’t be seen by others for a certain period. As soon as Dekir stepped out, the third-floor caretaker, as if waiting, addressed him from the doorway.
“I will overlook the incident this morning. However, if it happens again, I will take action.”
The ‘incident this morning’ referred to Dekir carrying Heyna to this place. “I don’t know what you’re talking about. I haven’t broken any rules.”
Dekir feigned ignorance, despite knowing full well what was meant.
“It appears you restricted a participant’s movement, violating prohibition iii of rule number three in the guide.”
“Heyna’s ankle was injured, and she was having trouble walking. I was merely assisting her.”
“Lady Heyna was on her way to the restroom. Yet you brought her here, to the Room of Truth.”
“Heyna was confused about the restroom’s location. I simply carried her in the direction she was heading. What’s the problem?”
“Don’t try to play word games with me.”
“It’s not a word game. And you also broke the rules.”
“I break the rules? That’s impossible.” At the caretaker’s immediate denial, Dekir’s lips curled into a wry smile. “You grabbed Heyna’s wrist when she tried to open the door. That’s not only a breach of servant etiquette, but also ignoring a participant’s request.”
“I admit that was my mistake. Which is why I am overlooking your rule violation. And…” A sharp glint appeared in the caretaker’s ash-grey eyes. “I did not ignore Lady Heyna’s wishes. If she had wanted to open the door, I would not have stopped her further.”
There was no arguing with that. He had indeed asked Heyna twice if she wanted to enter the room. “Mr. Dekir, time is running out. Please do your best in the remaining time. Good luck.”
