I Reincarnated As A Villainess, But Why Did I Become A Cat Butler Instead? - Chapter 125
Chapter 63.1
‘Aagh, it’s painful.’
After persistently pressuring Tyra, I finally got the medicine—or rather, the poison—and swallowed it, trusting in my own healing power. I went up to my room and waited, and within minutes, my body began to react.
Soon, my skin turned redder and redder, and despite Tyra’s anxious attempts to dissuade me, she couldn’t bring herself to leave. I deliberately scratched the itchy spots even more.
The scratches worsened the condition, and blisters began to form.
“Oh, my! Madam…”
Even though I had told Agwen I had taken the medicine on purpose, she turned to Tyra, clearly shocked that my skin had deteriorated to this level.
“Are you sure you’re going to be okay? Isn’t this too much? You’ll recover, right? Madam, please stop scratching!”
Agwen grabbed my arm to stop me, but I didn’t stop. At first, I had intentionally scratched to worsen the condition quickly, but at some point, I really couldn’t stop anymore.
“It’s so itchy!”
“There is nothing wrong, right? Miss Tyra, is the Madam okay?”
At the question, Tyra sighed with a pitiful face.
“Madam, do you really have to do this? It’s better to take the medicine as soon as possible now…”
“It’s okay, I can stand it. Do I look very sick?”
“Very much.”
Agwen stamped her foot as she replied.
“Does it just look like it’s painful? Does it really look tolerable?”
Tyra answered as if she couldn’t stand it.
“Of course, it hurts as much as it looks. The Madam must be in pain as if you were burned all over your body…”
“No, what should we do if you give the Madam such severe medicine!”
Agwen opened her mouth in amazement.
Just like Tyra said, my whole body was burning and sore. I was in so much pain that I broke into a cold sweat.
‘I’m going to go crazy.’
I couldn’t deny that I regretted telling Tyra it was okay for me to endure pain, thinking the worse it was, the better. Still, when I looked in the mirror, it was exactly as I had hoped. My entire face and all the exposed skin were red as if burned, with large, frightening blisters forming in places that were painful to even look at.
The pain was indescribable.
As I subconsciously scratched at my body, some of the blisters burst, leaving blood and ooze under my fingernails. Even the top of my head prickled with soreness. Although I felt a strong urge to pour my healing power over myself from head to toe, I gritted my teeth and resisted.
In the meantime, I smiled with satisfaction.
If I could protect my cat, this was nothing.
‘We’ll see, Madam Elbas.’
“Now, go and gather people as if something big happened.”
“Yes, Madam.”
I lay down on the bed in a pajama dress with short sleeves and a skirt, exposing as much of my body as possible. Naturally, I didn’t cover myself with a blanket, either.
Agwen soon spoke urgently, ‘Oh, what am I going to do?! This is a disaster!’ before quickly leaving the room.
I smirked to myself.
‘Her acting has really improved.’
The next moment, I heard her loud voice commanding the maids passing by to bring clean clothes, blankets, and buckets. The urgency and exasperation in her voice were so convincing that anyone who heard it would immediately know something serious had happened.
“Tyra, it hurts so much so could you wrap my hands?”
Persuaded by me, Tyra tied my hands tightly with a cloth so I couldn’t scratch myself.
“Madam, even if you take the antidote quickly now, it’ll subside tomorrow. You’d better eat it in advance.”
“I can’t do that.”
I flatly refused.
If I got better too quickly, it wouldn’t seem like a big deal.
‘I can bear it. I have to show Madam Elbas that I wasn’t being unreasonable.’
It wasn’t an act—I was truly in pain and about to lie down, moaning, when Agwen opened the door and entered.
Behind her, I saw the maids bringing clean clothes and buckets.
As I glanced around, I noticed Madam Elbas’s maids lurking near my door, clearly curious about what was going on.
Just in time, it seemed that grandmother Rosanne had also come up after hearing Agwen’s raucous noise.
I had deliberately instructed Agwen to make more noise in front of Grandmother Rosanne so she would arrive sooner than anyone else. I had noticed that whenever I quarreled with Madam Elbas, the moment Grandmother appeared, she would fall silent.
‘Madam Elbas seems to struggle with Grandmother Rosanne. It would be much easier to use Grandmother’s influence than to confront her directly.’
I was using my brain in my own way.
Even if Grandmother Rosanne wasn’t on my side, she didn’t strike me as the type to lie or take Madam Elbas’ side unfairly. Besides, it would be helpful to have someone reliable to explain the current situation in the future. Madam Elbas might be unreasonable and say things like, ‘She forced me to say I was wronged,’ or ‘Rowaine made a fuss over nothing.’
