I Grabbed the Tyrant’s Heart - Chapter 99
“Weathering, look at this. This is an ancient language and a map, right? You know the map you were organizing at the time, don’t you think it’s okay to overlap this with that?”
“Calm your excitement, Euel. It’s not just an ancient language. It’s not even a formula.”
Weathering muttered as he was looking through the book.
“An old story? Why is the story of the angel and the woodcutter written-”
“-What are you doing here?”
The voice of someone who should not have been here came from close by.
It was the voice of my childhood friend and the Emperor, who should be talking to an envoy from another country right at this moment.
“What are you doing here?”
There was a deep, dark rage emanating from Tess. It felt unbelievable that I hadn’t noticed him coming until this close.
“How dare.”
“Te, Your Majesty.”
As I corrected his title by biting my tongue, the ferocity leaking from Tess intensified.
“I was just going to show this person a, a book.”
But what am I supposed to do, I can’t call the Emperor’s name carelessly in this situation.
“I’m sorry for bringing someone who didn’t have a permit to the restricted area.”
I stepped forward to cover Weathering, and Tess stared at me. The only emotion that could be read on his white, expressionless face was a sense of betrayal.
“It’s my fault, Your Majesty.”
Weathering stepped forward as if to protect me instead. His composure in this situation was commendable, but it was not the right time to step up.
“I asked because I wanted to see the precious materials here.”
Oh, Weathering. Please shut that mouth.
“Lady Hardland is innocent. So please be generous-”
“-go away.”
“Your Majesty, everything is-”
“-I told you to go!”
After earnestly stirring up the opponent’s anger, Weathering closed his mouth and turned his body.
“Euel.”
Maybe he didn’t understand the situation, he tried to leave the place with me, then I saw it for a moment. The murderous black eyes.
“No.”
Immediately after kicking Weathering out of the way, the iron table next to me was cut in half and fell.
Thud!
My feet shook with a heavy sinking sound.
Rather than being relieved that Tess stopped before he killed someone else, I had to prevent another murder attempt.
“Go, Weathering. Hurry!”
Even when he shouted, the dumbfounded Weathering did not go. He stood still and stared at me.
“Go, please!”
“Euel, you-”
“-I’m fine, so go!”
As I caught Tess trying to turn his body and shouted again, perhaps realizing the urgency, the stupid scholar opened the door and disappeared outside.
Thud.
As the thick door closed, a low voice fell beneath my fool.
Boom, baam!
Then thunder began to strike and Tess squeezed my shoulders hard. Then he called my name deeply.
“Euseniel.”
Not confident to face his anger, I lowered my head and at a glance, saw the veins on the back of his hand. The white hand held my shoulder as if it would crush it, but I didn’t feel any pain.
“How can you do this to me!”
“Hey, Tess.”
“Today is my birthday. MY BIRTHDAY!”
A scream-like roar cut through the roaring thunder and pierced my eardrum.
“How could you leave me and go out with another guy? Did you think I wouldn’t go crazy after seeing that? Huh?”
The wounded eyes scratched my heart and eventually I closed my eyes.
“I’m sorry, Tess.”
I was out of breath and my voice trembled. The inside of my mouth was dry, but I spoke eagerly.
“I had something to show him. I thought it would take… just a little while.”
I could feel his cold hand cupping my cheek.
“I was going to come back before you realize it, then you won’t have to worry about it.”
“Open your eyes, Euseniel.”
As I slowly raised my eyelids, the black pupils were close by. Reflected in it, I was very stiff.
“Euseniel, it seems you forgot something.”
His thumb gently rubbed my eyes, and a low, soft voice, as if he had never shouted, wet my ears.
“I said the imperial palace is like my body.”
Oh, it was. I had completely forgotten.
“Besides, do you think I will let you out of my sight? Even the shaking of a single strand of your hair gets on my nerves.”
Tess tilted his head and met my gaze. His red lips twisted.
“Would you hide that?”
Contrary to the calm tone, the words protruding from his fine lips were harsh. A ferocity was pouring out as if it would burst into this space at any moment.
“Tess.”
I tried to open my mouth wanting to somehow calm him down, but what should I say?
“Tell me, Euseniel.”
I just took a step back.
Every time I took two or three steps back, Tess took a step, one at a time, and caught up with me in an instant. Soon I felt something hard on my back and the moment I realized it was a large table, the first thing that came to my mind was ‘It’s over’.
I lifted my heels to get away from this lump of rage a little bit. Because of Tess, who narrowed the distance that much, I ended up sitting on the table.
Standing between my legs, he grabbed me by the waist to keep me from running away.
“Euseniel.”
It was more scary when he called my name in an expressionless, indifferent manner.
“Give me a present.”
“A present?”
“Today is my birthday.”
“A present, my family already-”
“-No, I want to receive a present from you.”
The squalid darkness lay beneath the calmer tone, but Tess’ next move was unpredictable.
Riiip.
So I didn’t realize what had happened until my dress was torn in half.
“Tess!”
Before my clothes split in two, I hurriedly grabbed his two large hands.
“What are you doing?”
“Give me, Euseniel.”
“What!”
“Your body.”
Reflected in the beads that seemed to have been forged in the middle of the night, was me who couldn’t hide my astonishment.
“Are you going to leave me behind? Are you?”
Hearing the word ‘leaving’, my heart pounded wildly.
“I am nothing to you, so throwing me away must have been easy. It’s been like that since long ago. You bothered me and wanted to let go of me somehow!”
“No, no.”
“That’s right.”
If I agree to it here, will he give up and let me go? No, he won’t.
