I Grabbed the Tyrant’s Heart - Chapter 121
- Farewell and reunion
“I’ll be back.”
“Sister, when will you come back?”
My cute younger sister cried as she tugged at my cloak.
“I’ll be back soon, Gael. You have to eat well and sleep well, understand?”
“Sister…….”
Seeing Gael dripping tears made my eyes watery too.
“If Gael stops crying and stays strong, Sister can come back quickly.”
I bragged about never lying to Tess, but I just lied to Gael. Gael widened her eyes wide and tried not to cry.
“I’ll be back.”
“Take care, Euel.”
Mother smiled as usual, and Father…
“Eu, Euel. my daughter! Huu, hu-uhh.”
… He couldn’t speak because he was crying.
I felt like he would never be able to take a step, so I kissed him lightly on the cheek and took a few steps back.
“I’ll be back, Dad.”
Seeing Father who stopped crying, I gave him a wide smile and got on the horse.
I headed north, to Guana Mountain. On the way, I found a familiar figure in front of the North Gate.
“Euseniel.”
It’s only a few hours ago that I saw him in my bedroom, but Tess was already waiting for me.
The gate was open, Tess, who was on a black horse, approached me. His gaze stayed near my chest, where his heart was, and then soon headed elsewhere.
“You promised to become Empress when you return.”
“I do.”
“Would you like to be the Emperor?”
“I don’t want it because it’ll be a lot of work to do.”
As I firmly refused, Tess shook his head in regret.
“I’d rather not leave Alin… I will only send you off here.”
Maybe the reason he would rather not leave Alin was because of the devil?
Tess’ nervous feeling gave me a sudden concern that the monsters of the border area, which had been quiet lately, might start to infest again.
“Tess.”
“Hm?”
I pulled his cheek and bit his soft lips lightly. I dug into his open mouth and quickly pulled back.
Perhaps this was enough, Tess’s sharply raised eyes became loose.
“I’ll be back.”
“Yes, take care.”
I rode out of the castle feeling relieved at the somewhat diminished expectation.
I had sometimes rode outside the castle so it was familiar to me. Unlike the south and east gates where there was a village, a desolate field spread out outside the north gate.
A barren land that feels dark and shady.
Unlike the warm castle, it was very cold outside. A cold chill seeped into my body, like it was entering not just autumn but winter.
I may not have been to the Southern Empire, but the Southern Empire was said to have been fertile and rich under the protection of the God of Light. It would feel quite different from the barren Northern Empire.
I like the warm sunlight, but this is the place where I belong. Just the Northern Empire.
Deciding upon it again, my heart felt a little lighter.
Being on the move for two full days, I was able to arrive at my destination, Guana Mountain. The mountain was shrouded in fog from the periphery. This was nothing ordinary.
“Magic…….”
Each invisible drop of water has magical power.
I tried to ride the horse as much as possible, but it seemed that I would have to walk.
“Go carefully.”
I gently comforted the brown horse Father had given me and returned it.
The trained horse will be able to find its way back to Hardland. At least, if it went around the castle, people will see the Hardland family seal hanging from the horse’s neck and the reward letter, they’ll take the horse back.
Riding a horse was a lot of fun. When I come back, I need to do more things, like horseback riding.
“Whoa…….”
The fog not only contained magic, but also moisture, so my clothes became damp in no time. Because of that, my body soon became heavy despite my comfortable clothes. My steps slowed down.
If I wasn’t a half-elf, I’d surely get tired quickly.
Guana Mountain is high and rugged and it was said that no one has ever been to the top of the Mountain due to its various characteristics.
“Come to think of it, the woodcutter is also an unusual person.”
How did he buy and sell wood in Guana Mountain? Maybe he was a person with special abilities. Maybe a wizard, a swordsman, or a scholar who knows a lot about Guana Mountain.
Or, like Tess, something to do with the devil…….
“Oh, here it is again.”
Guana Mountain was not easy to navigate because of the magic surrounding the mountain. I was no exception. I laughed when I saw the red string that I had tied to the tree again.
The thick fog hid the sky so I couldn’t see it properly, so I ended up climbing a tree.
“The sun has gone that way, so I must go the other way.”
Relying on the sun, moon, and stars, I continued to walk through the mountain and forest. I couldn’t even see any beasts, perhaps because of the magic.
“Wow, now that I think about it, maybe the angel and the woodcutter are complete lies.”
The deer told the woodcutter about a bathing angel?
The place I am heading to now is the ‘Emerald Lake’, which was supposed to be the entrance to the fairy world, where the angel bathed. Looking at the situation now, I suddenly became suspicious of the existence of that lake.
However, according to the book Calisis recommended me to read , light and darkness exist. Darkness is represented by the devil, and light can be represented by a god or angel named Lux.
Lux’s temples are built all over the place, and I’m sure people treat it as real. Monsters called the servants of the devil haunt the Northern Empire, so the devil existed too.
“Maybe. There must be.”
At least fairies would actually exist, and there is also the fairy world, so I should go there.
The trees were so tall and large that one cannot even estimate their age as sunlight could not even reach the ground. The thick pile of leaves at the bottom sunk at my feet.
Still, after about two days, I got used to finding my directions and got used to the mountain’s atmosphere. After walking for about a week, the heavy fog suddenly disappeared at some point.
“Maybe time was the issue?”
Even though I passed the flat and uphill path several times, I didn’t feel like I was going up at all. Yet finally after a week, I was able to confirm that I had come up to a fairly high place.
“As expected, this is not an ordinary mountain after all.”
A place where space and time are arbitrary, Guana Mountain.
