I Don't Need the Grand Duke's Regret - Chapter 16
Chapter 16
Translator: effe
Armilla wouldn’t have even dreamed of doing it. Despite looking at Ricardo, bewitched, she would be startled and then turn her gaze with a white face. How could a woman like that?
From Nasir’s point of view, Armilla was busy pushing Ricardo out of her mind. The only problem was that it wasn’t an easy thing to do.
“Even if everyone doesn’t say anything, everyone is grateful to Lady Armilla. Because you saved the Master.”
Armilla smiled quietly at the kind Nasir’s consolation and spoke in reply.
“Even if I am a guest, I can’t stay here forever. I also want to find a way for me to make a living. After finishing the map, I will start figuring it out.”
Nasir looked at Armilla with pitiful eyes.
There is no emotional exchange of sorts between Ricardo and Armilla. However, from the Princess’ point of view, it would still be something undesirable. Nasir swallowed his sigh and said mildly.
“I think Lady Armilla would do well as a tutor. Let me help you. Instead, just do your map slowly. It’s not urgent, so there’s no need to overdo it.”
“Thank you, Nasir.”
Armilla said to Nasir with a soft smile. Nasir set aside the letter to Segolinde and headed for the bookshelf.
“Then, shall we look at children’s textbooks first? There must be something the previous Duke used.”
Armila eagerly read the book Nasir had brought out.
Since it was a children’s book, there weren’t many difficult words. However, Arcangelo was not easy to read because the word order was opposite to Segolinde.
Even though she had mastered the alphabet, the grammar was another matter, and she was still stuttering.
Armilla sat at the desk and studied diligently. Occasionally, she would ask Nasir when an unfamiliar word or grammar came up. Every time, Nasir kindly explained it to her.
After studying together for a long time, Nasir stretched out and said,
“Shall we take a break?”
“Great.”
Armila also readily accepted Nasir’s offer. It was already getting dark outside, and her eyes were starting to dim.
“Have this. It will relieve sleepiness.”
“Thank you.”
Armila sipped the tea Nasir had brought and looked out the window.
Fortunately, the sky was clear today. Of course, the freezing cold with strong wind blowing still didn’t change. But for Renato’s weather, this was good.
“I think the Master is going to be late.”
“I guess.”
Armilla smiled awkwardly and looked away. When she was with Nasir, she had never felt awkward, but today the atmosphere seemed strange. Nasir seemed to be choosing his words.
“…… If Lady Armilla wishes.”
After a long pause, Nasir spoke. Armilla, who was looking down at the teacup, raised her head. He smiled back at her.
“I can look for your family.”
“How?”
“For now, there is a clue.”
Nasir spoke softly and looked at Armilla. Confused by his words, Armilla soon realized what the clue he was referring to and let out a small exclamation.
“The bracelet…….”
“Yes. It’s not a common style in Arcangelo, so I think it’s better to look in Segolinde. Lady Armilla seems to be a Segolinde.”
“I see.”
Armilla agreed with Nasir’s reasoning. She barely knows Arcangelo and is only familiar with the Segolinde language. And since she was familiar with Segolinde’s geography, she could be regarded as a Segolinde.
It would be possible that she was a Jaquette, the neighboring country, but it was highly unlikely. Because Armilla does not have the characteristic silver hair of the Jaquette.
On the contrary, Armilla had hair red like a blazing sunset. Nasir smiled and continued.
“To find your family with just one bracelet, it will need a lot of people. But don’t worry too much. Master would be happy if Lady Armilla wanted to find your family.”
“Do you think so?”
“Of course. He even gives you treatment every day to help restore your memories.”
“It must be because he wanted me to leave quickly.”
Armilla curled up her lips. Even as she spoke, she wondered if she was being too timid, but she couldn’t help it. There was a limit to how much she could force herself to lighten the mood.
The only person Armilla can rely on is Ricardo. Like a duckling following its mother blindly after coming out of the egg and seeing its mother for the first time, her whole mind was on Ricardo, who had rescued her from the snowy mountain. But Ricardo didn’t give her a piece of his own heart.
She couldn’t figure out what she meant to Ricardo. Perhaps Armilla is just a nuisance to him. Not too long ago she collapsed during treatment and caused him trouble.
“His Grace will feel relieved when I leave.”
“There’s no way!”
Nasir exclaimed towards the depressed Armilla. Does that relieve him? It’s nonsense.
When Armilla collapsed, Ricardo did not leave her bedroom. Ezio, the captain of the knights, even expressed his dislike for Armilla, saying that she was a fox.
It was because Ricardo was not the kind of person who would take care of someone else, and put the imperial family behind him.
Ricardo explained that he had to treat the magic problem caused by him, but is it really that?
Nasir concluded that the Grand Duke took an above-average interest in Armilla. It’s just that he wasn’t sensitive and delicate in nature, so it wasn’t noticeable.
But to say that Ricardo thinks of Armilla as a nuisance. That was rather an absurd thing to say. Nasir was so stunned that he was at a loss and he refuted.
“What do you mean the Master will be relieved? It’s nonsense. If that was the case, he would have sent Lady Armilla to the Magic Tower.”
“Even so, if the Princess came to Renato, I thought he wanted me to go to the Magic Tower.”
“That…….”
Nasir, who was pouring out words at Armilla, lost his words.
“The magic tower, isn’t it on the opposite side of Renato? Lady Armilla, it will be too hard to go alone. Maybe the Master…….”
“We found her!”
