I Don't Need the Grand Duke's Regret - Chapter 11
Chapter 11

One candle lit up the large study. The flame of the candle stretched long as if it would soon go out.
Armilla walked slowly through the dark study and stood in front of the desk. As she tried to reach for her practice paper, she hesitated when she saw a letter lying on top of it.
Meanwhile, Ricardo, who was standing by the doorway, moved when he saw Armilla looking at Segolinde’s letter. He walked briskly, picked up the letter, and spoke briefly.
“Did you see it?”
“N, no. I didn’t see it.”
She actually saw it. But all she saw was Segolinde’s seal. She didn’t know why she knew that seal belonged to the King of Segolinde, but she knew the moment she saw it.
At that moment, her heart thumped.
Ricardo was in touch with Segolinde. It’s not enough that he was already working hard every day to find his beloved Princess Mirabel.
“Well. It doesn’t matter if you saw it.”
Ricardo said calmly and folded the letter. He flopped down on the sofa and spoke in a weary voice.
“It’s a weekly contact from Segolinde. Nothing new.”
“Are they telling you to…… hurry and find the princess?”
Ricardo nodded his head with an unimpressed face. The talks about Arcangelo being held responsible for the Segolinde princess and the burden getting passed on to Ricardo, was already famous in the castle.
Ricardo watched silently as Armilla took the practice paper that was placed under the letter.
He looked at it earlier, but the practice paper had nothing special. Except for the fact that her handwriting is overly elegant.
As he looked at Armilla’s practice paper earlier, Ricardo had a doubt.
The elegant handwriting, as smooth as flowing water, filled the practice paper. Such handwriting did not just come from practicing for a day or two. Armilla must have known how to write that way in the first place.
So, what is Armilla’s true identity?
Ricardo watched her as he drank the rest of his wine. In the dimly lit room, her red hair looked black.
In the middle of it, a few strands shone with golden light. It wasn’t its usual color, rather red hair with a mysterious tinge.
Armilla’s dark green eyes sparkled in the dark. Her skin was immaculate, and her hands were smooth without any signs of hard work.
Regardless of her appearance, she is at least not a commoner. If she was a commoner, her hair wouldn’t have been as smooth.
And Armilla, if words were to put it, was an elegant beauty. Even if she had been a commoner, she would not have lived a normal life. The life of a striking beauty is beyond her volition.
However, Armilla was pure and without a twist. She was not wary of others.
Armilla had the pureness typical of someone who grew up protected. Not exactly ignorance. She’s wise and clear-headed, without a shady side. Then, again, is she a noble?
Ricardo recalled the family of red-headed Segolinde one by one. Armilla’s family might be among them.
“What do you think about it, Your Grace?”
Ricardo, who had fallen into a world of his own, raised his head at the clear voice. He narrowed his eyes and asked back.
“What?”
“The princess. Are you worried about her?”
“Why are you asking that all of a sudden?”
“She is the person Your Highness was going to marry. So I was curious.”
“You’re curious about a lot of things.”
Armilla rolled up the practice paper and looked at Ricardo. He talked more today. He even answered every question she gave him.
Considering that it was not easy to talk to him normally, this seemed like a perfect opportunity to talk to him. Armilla mustered up a little more courage and spoke again.
“When I see you going out to find her every day, I think you’re very worried.”
“I’m not worried.”
Ricardo murmured, sweeping his head. The vivid purple eyes, like amethyst, glistened and shone.
“You seem to care more about the princess than I do.”
Ricardo’s low voice made Armilla parched. Her heart pounded at the low voice and straight gaze. Armilla looked at him while her heart was racing.
“I…… went out of my way. Forgive me.”
“Are you apologizing for worrying about my fiance?”
As Ricardo smiled bitterly, Armilla’s cheeks flared up. It’s a good thing that the room was dark, otherwise he would have noticed the color on her face at once. Armilla stammered in bewilderment.
“I’m, I’m so…….”
“Enough. No more apologizing.”
Ricardo put the glass down on the desk. For some reason, he had a feeling he could get away from the insomnia that had been bothering him.
“Sit.”
Ricardo offered Armilla to sit with a dry voice. Armilla stared at him and sat down on the sofa opposite him. She held the rolled practice paper dearly in her hand.
Ricardo’s gaze, which was examining Armilla, landed on the practice paper. He rubbed his brow with his fingertips and started to speak.
“Is it that important? It’s not expensive enough for you to come back and fetch it.”
“It’s not the paper, it’s the content…….”
“The contents?”
Armilla, who was responding to Ricardo’s question, bit her lower lip. She hesitated for a moment, then shook her head.
“No. The handwriting is a mess. That’s why I came to get it.”
“It’s far from a mess.”
Ricardo smiled and lowered his hand. Armilla stared blankly at Ricardo, who had a light smile on his face. The way he smiles is precious. Especially when the two of them are alone.
‘I’m lucky today.’
Armilla’s heart was slowly tightening. The feeling of heavy air and her breathing becoming difficult, which she had always felt when she was alone with Ricardo, came back.
But that feeling was not uncomfortable. Rather, she felt a sense of exhilaration for no reason.
“Thank you.”
Armilla smiled as she faced RIcardo. Ricardo’s expression hardened as her lips drew a soft curve.
He pursed his lips as if to say something, then shut them. Reading his expression, Armilla blinked and asked.
“Why are you like that?”
“No, it’s a little…….”
