Chapter 29.1
“This is a Dalgona latte. Give it a try. Since you’ve already tasted dalgona, you can just mix it well and drink it without having to try the toppings separately.”
Following April’s words, Hans swiftly whisked the dalgona into the coffee with a spoon so that it blended well. As the thick dalgona gradually melted away, the golden dalgona flowed into the light brown caffè latte.
When it had melted to a certain extent, Hans carefully took a sip.
“Oh. The coffee aroma is stronger than what I drank a while ago. I like the bittersweetness, like you added caramel syrup.”
April made another dalgona latte and tasted it. Indeed, just as Hans had said, the bitter and sweet taste of dalgona blended so well that it almost tasted like a caramel macchiato.
‘Actually, it can’t help but be similar. Dalgona is a kind of caramelized sugar.’
At that moment, a good idea suddenly flashed through her mind.
‘I think making this our signature menu would be a good idea.’
The dalgona latte made with dalgona was a recipe that only she, coming from Korea, could come up with. It was a menu item that could never be found in other cafes. If they were to promote this as their signature menu, it seemed like they could secure competitiveness among the many cafes out there.
‘Looking at Mr. Hans’s reaction, it seems to suit the tastes of the people here as well.’
At that moment, Asher’s mouth watered.
“Sister, can I try it too?”
“Hmm.”
April was conflicted. No matter how sweet the drink might be, coffee was coffee. It didn’t feel right to give a coffee containing caffeine to a five-year-old.
“Ah!”
The next moment, she exclaimed in excitement as she poured milk into a cup. Then, she added the dalgona and mixed it well. It was dalgona milk without espresso.
“Here, drink this.”
Asher quickly grabbed the cup and drank the dalgona milk. The child with a white mark on the corner of his mouth laughed.
“It feels like my tongue is melting.”
“Does that mean it’s delicious?”
“Yes!”
He replied enthusiastically and started sipping the dalgona milk again.
‘It seems like a menu for children was also created.’
She thought it would be a good idea to create a set menu that parents and children could enjoy together. While she was pondering that, April glanced back at the dalgona cream and was surprised.
“Oh, there’s coffee again.”
It was because a little bit of brown coffee had settled at the bottom of the dalgona cream, which was clearly made well without any coffee mixtures. Hans, who had already finished his dalgona latte, explained what had happened.
“It’s the same principle as meringue. Over time, the foam will go away.”
“So, does that mean if we want to drink it again later, we have to whisk it again?”
“Unfortunately, yes. If you happen to make it again next time, I’ll help you.”
“No, it’s okay.”
April shouted determinedly.
“I can do it.”
Hannah was due to return in three days at one o’clock. April vowed to herself that she would make the perfect coffee before her arrival.

Three days later, the day of reckoning arrived. April, along with Asher and Hans, who knew about the bet with Hannah, felt tense from the morning.
“Sister. You will be okay, right?”
“Miss April, you will do well.”
With the encouragement of the two, she worked hard to make the dalgona cream. For the past three days, she had practiced tirelessly to achieve the perfect ratio, despite her sore arms, she clenched her teeth and stirred the whisk.
‘It’s all done.’
Thirty minutes later, her efforts paid off, and the perfect dalgona cream was completed.
“Miss April, Miss Hannah Turner has arrived.”
As the three marveled at the golden dalgona cream, the butler arrived and delivered the message.
April gathered the necessary ingredients and headed to the reception room with the support of Hans and Asher. Her preparations were simple. There were only three things: ice and milk in glass cups, dalgona cream in a sharp-nosed bottle, and dalgona pieces to use as toppings. Still, she was confident that this would be enough to persuade Hannah.
“I’m coming in.”
As she knocked and entered, she saw Hannah sitting with her arms crossed. Her defensive attitude was evident.
‘Hmm, this might not be easy.’
At the sight, her confidence suddenly wavered, but April, who had momentarily felt discouraged, regained her determination.
‘No, It will be possible.’
She smiled as brightly as she could and placed the tray down in front of Hannah.
“Miss Turner, have you been well?”
“Yes, well. How have you been, Miss April?”
Nevertheless, seeing her exchange pleasantries, it seemed that apart from differing opinions on coffee, she didn’t seem like a person with a bad nature.
‘Come to think of it, even though she could have refused today’s offer if she really didn’t want to come, she came on purpose, didn’t she?’
As she set the glass down in front of Hannah, April revised her assessment of Hannah from ‘She doesn’t seem like a bad person’ to ‘She seems like a good person.’
“Thank you. I’m grateful you came to try my coffee today.”
