I Didn't Lull You to Sleep Only for You to Be Obsessed With Me - Chapter 32

Chapter 17.1
Despite the fact that Claude normally stood out even when dressed in a shirt and pants, when he was dressed from head to toe like this, he had an exceptional appearance, like a main character from a novel.
Particularly with his remarkable build.
He was taller than the other knights, with broad shoulders and more muscular than one would think. It wasn’t noticeable when he was wearing a somewhat loose shirt, but now that he was wearing a well-fitting attire, his toned body was even more evident.
‘…This is against the rules.’
Without knowing why it was unfair, April thought that way.
‘No matter how much of a main character in a novel he may be, he can’t have everything!’
To be honest, when his gaze landed on her, it made her face feel unnecessarily hot, so April unconsciously avoided Claude’s gaze and stopped talking. Being so busy in her past life that she had never had the chance to date made her not immune to men.
Fortunately, Claude seemed unaware of her state. Instead of her, he spoke to Asher as if advising the child.
“You’re Winterville. You’re naturally enjoying what a Winterville deserves.”
“But…”
“I’ll wait until you adapt, but it’s going to be problematic if you continue to behave like this.”
“I, I’m sorry.”
Asher clasped his hands together and lowered his head deeply.
“I feel like I’m just causing trouble to the uncle…”
It had only been a day since the child arrived at Winterville Manor. It was only natural that a five-year-old couldn’t adapt to a new environment. So rather than comforting a child like that, he couldn’t just berate him!
April was about to say something when Claude opened his mouth again first.
“Trouble? You?”
“Yes.”
“Who said such a thing?”
“No one…”
“Tell me. If you tell me right now…”
‘…Right now?’
April watched Claude’s mouth carefully, waiting for his following words. No matter how much she thought about it, it seemed that something inappropriate for a child to hear would come out of those refined lips.
“Tear their mouths apart…”
‘As expected…!’
April covered Asher’s ears and let out a small scream.
“Duke!”
Claude narrowed his eyes.
Forgetting the fact that the man in front of her was the one who had killed her in the original story, she stared straight at him. Right now, she was burning with a sense of duty to make Claude use only kind and gentle words to Asher.
‘Don’t say such things in front of the child.’
Claude chuckled softly, his lips curling into a smile as she muttered without making a sound. At the same time, April tensed her body belatedly, but fortunately, he didn’t seem displeased.
Rather, wasn’t it better to correct him like this?
“If there’s someone like that, let me know anytime and I’ll give them a proper scolding.”
Why did the phrase ‘give them a proper scolding’ sound even more chilling? Nevertheless, it was words that were alright for a child to hear.
When April removed her hand from Asher’s ear, Claude looked at the child again and continued his words.
“I don’t think your behavior reflects poorly on the Winterville family or my name. However, if you look down upon yourself without reason, you’ll only make things harder for yourself.”
“….”
“I don’t want that. Do you understand?”
Asher, who had lowered his head, met Claude’s gaze before he responded.
“Yes.”
“Good. Are you ready to go, by the way?”
“Yes, I’ve done everything.”
As he responded, Asher gazed at Claude as if hoping for some form of praise. It was because of what he had just said, there was a slight admiration toward his uncle in his eyes.
However, Claude didn’t offer any praise.
‘Would it hurt to give a little praise?’
April was pouting slightly with dissatisfaction when he suddenly cast a gaze filled with discontent towards her.
“You don’t actually plan on going like that, do you?”
She was bewildered.
“Me?”
As she looked at him with such a face as if asking where she was going, Claude’s expression grew stern.
“Yes. You’re going to the imperial palace, so surely, you wouldn’t consider wearing such clothes, are you?”
“Why am I going to the imperial palace? The ones going to the imperial family are the Duke and Asher.”
“Didn’t you hear? I’m sure I told you to prepare as well.”
“Then, why would I…”
Before April could finish her sentence, the maids who had been waiting in one corner of the room rushed towards her.
“We’ll prepare immediately!”
“Please wait a moment, Your Grace!”
“No, that’s—!”
In the end, she was dragged away by the maids without a chance to protest.

“Why on earth am I…”
April had transformed completely in just thirty short minutes. Considering the time nobles usually took to prepare themselves, it was a miraculous speed. And right now, she was sitting inside a carriage headed to the imperial palace alongside Claude and Asher.
It had been five minutes since they left the Duke’s residence. She still couldn’t understand why she had to accompany these two to the palace.
Looking at her frustrated face, Claude blurted out.
“You’re really unsympathetic.”
…Unsympathetic?
‘I don’t think it’s something I’d expect to hear from Claude, of all people.’
