I Became the Villain's Master - Chapter 53
Chapter 53
A few days later, the Madam returned, her eyes widening at the sight of me in a dress she had sewn.
She immediately suggested another fitting.
“It’s too plain. This won’t do. We should go with the dress I recommended in the beginning.”
Of course, I refused. Why would I get fitted for a new dress after trying on so many already?
‘Is it okay for me to be more glamorous than the royal family?’
Fortunately, after some arguing, we settled on the dress I had chosen initially.
The Madam then made some strange comment about this being the end of the Montblanc dress shop, but I pretended not to hear her.
As long as I was satisfied, Kiris would also understand.

The day of the long-awaited banquet arrived.
I woke up early to prepare for the event.
As I was the daughter of a Viscount in name, I knew how much preparation was required to attend a banquet.
Of course, I had never been to one before, aside from my debutante ball.
“Miss, I will make you so beautiful that you’ll be the star of the banquet!”
“That’s not necessary. Thank you.”
“Oh, nonsense. It’s the least I can do.”
Mary enthusiastically began styling me, and soon, maids in uniform dresses came in to assist her.
“We’re here to help.”
I was taken aback. I hadn’t asked for their help.
“Um… who are you?”
“The Tower Lord asked us to help you prepare.”
After that, they silently went about their tasks.
“Thank you.”
I gave up trying to respond to each of them and let them work their magic.
After what felt like an eternity, as the sun began to set and darkness descended, I was finally ready. I put on the dress and accessories and stood in front of the mirror.
‘Isn’t this too much?’
The sky-blue dress complemented my blue eyes well.
It may have been simpler than the other extravagant dresses, but it was still too much for my taste.
Finally, I added the pearl bracelet and diamond necklace that had been brought from the East.
“You’re so beautiful, Miss.”
As Mary and the maids exclaimed in admiration, I said with a trembling voice,
“Should I really go to the banquet?”
“Of course, Miss.”
“Then we shall take our leave.”
The maids politely bowed and left. I watched them go, regretting my decision to attend the banquet.
‘I should have just said no.’
As I was lost in self-reproach, the door suddenly opened, and Kiris entered.
“Miss, I’m going to step out for a bit. Please let me know when you’re ready.”
Mary tactfully left the room, and I met Kiris’ gaze as he leaned against the doorframe.
“Wow…”
Kiris was wearing a black formal robe made of the finest fabric, with an emerald-studded cravat that caught my eye.
I couldn’t help but gasp in admiration at his appearance, and my heart started pounding involuntarily.
‘Heart, behave yourself!’
I hurriedly clutched my chest and forced a smile.
“Kiris?”
“…”
Kiris had been staring at me with wide eyes and pursed lips.
Why does he look so shocked? Does the dress not suit me?
“…What do you think? Does it look okay?”
As I muttered nervously, Kiris’ red eyes swirled with intense emotion. He ran a hand through his hair and sighed.
“Mistress.”
“Yes?”
“Are you asking because you’re really curious?”
“Does it not suit me? I’ve never worn a dress like this before, so I’m a bit awkward…”
Kiris let out a small sigh. His reaction made my mind race.
‘Is he upset because I didn’t thank him? He paid for all of this. I was so careless.’
Unlike his usual self, his deep voice and stern expression confirmed my suspicion.
So, I quickly changed my expression, clasped my hands together, and looked at Kiris with sparkling eyes.
“Oh, Kiris. I’m so sorry I didn’t thank you sooner. I still can’t believe I’m going to a banquet in the Imperial Palace. It feels like a dream.”
Fortunately, it worked.
“Really?”
Kiris smiled faintly and approached me slowly.
“But Mistress.”
He dropped to one knee and gently took my hand, his gaze still fixed on mine.
“…Will you be okay?”
Kiris pressed his lips to the back of my hand.
At the same time, I felt his persistent gaze as if he wouldn’t miss even the slightest movement.
Why is he doing this suddenly! I didn’t know where to put my gaze, so I moved my gaze around and stayed still.
“…Kiris?”
Then, he, who had squinted his eyes ferociously, moved his red lips slowly.
“If you’re this pretty, I don’t know what I’ll do.”
“……?”
Thump, thump.
I couldn’t come to my senses because of his strangely felt voice. Who could stay still if someone with that face said those lines?
I don’t know why he’s unconsciously saying and doing this to me. It wasn’t like he was trying to seduce me, so it was difficult if he kept doing this.
Should I distance myself a little?
‘This is all because of his face. His face.’
As I was calming my breath, his long fingers brushed the back of my hand.
“I wonder why I get so angry when I think of the nobles who will see Mistress.”
