“Rosé, Rosé. Wake up!”
Ferre, who had fallen asleep crying with Rosé, nudged her.
“Uuuuuhm…”
Fortunately regaining consciousness, Rosé groaned weakly and shuddered.
“Rosé…”
Ferre, wiping away tears that kept rolling down his cheeks, patted Rosé’s cheek lightly, urging her to wake up.
“What, Ferre. Why are you hitting me…”
About to scold Ferre as usual for playing pranks, Rosé opened her eyes and then fell silent.
The nightmare about a terrible monster wasn’t just a dream… It was reality.
Even in the darkness, Rosé’s eyes widened significantly.
“Ferre…!”
Rosé suddenly got up and hugged Ferre.
“Are you okay, Ferre?”
“Yeah… you?”
“I’m fine too, Ferre.”
Breathing heavily, Rosé and Ferre held each other’s trembling hands.
As they shared warmth in the same embrace, their stopped cries began to leak out a little again.
“I… want to see Hyung… and Sera…”
“Me too… hiic, hiic… Ferre.”
“Uwahh… Don’t cry… Rosé.”
“You too… Don’t cry, Ferre…”
They were scared. The room was dark and unfamiliar, with hardly any light entering.
It seemed to be a bed they were on, but they had no intention of leaving.
Only the faces of Helios and Sera flickered in their minds.
As they sobbed quietly, the door clicked open. Suddenly flooded with light, Rosé and Ferre quickly shielded their eyes.
“Princess Rosé. Prince Ferre.”
A smooth voice made their skin crawl. The children couldn’t forget whose voice it was and flinched.
Holding each other’s trembling hands as if they would never let go, the twins looked up at Saruvia.
“Who… Who are you! Why did you kidnap us!”
Holding Ferre as if to protect him in her small embrace, Rosé asked sharply at the threatening figure.
“Oh, but you know who I am, Your Highness. We have met before at a banquet…. Weren’t you there with us, Your Highnesses?”
“Don’t lie! I… I heard everything! You’re… Belzebuth!”
At the mention of Belzebuth, Ferre flinched and tightened his grip on Rosé’s arm.
“See? You know who I am.”
Saruvia approached with a smile.
“I… I don’t! But you’re a bad person! You kidnapped us and you… the knights…”
Rosé couldn’t bring herself to say they were killed, and Saruvia simply smirked, silently observing the twins.
Despite their attempts to appear brave, they were actually scared and tear-stained, which was quite pitiful.
“You seem to have cried a lot, Your Highnesses.”
As Saruvia reached out her smooth hand to touch the weeping Ferre’s cheek, Rosé spread her arms wide to block her.
“Don’t touch my little brother!”
“Oh, how scary.”
Saruvia backed off with exaggerated acting.
“Why… Why did you kidnap us?”
“Hyung… Hyung will come to save us! H…He’s the Emperor!”
“What are you even thinking! Oppa won’t let you get away with this!”
“I know, I know. I kidnapped you because I knew he would come to save you.”
At Saruvia’s answer, Rosé and Ferre were shocked into silence.
Fearful they might be killed, the children began backing into the bed.
When there was nowhere left to retreat at the end of the bed, Rosé and Ferre’s tears flowed freely.
“Looks like our young Prince and Princess are scared?”
Saruvia observed this and her eyes glinted.
“The benevolent Emperor will surely come to save you both. But…”
Saruvia leaned over the bed.
Trembling with fear, she placed her hand on the shoulders of the shaking children and whispered chillingly into their ears.
“To save you, he will have to lose Sera Popo.”
As if she had finished saying what she needed, Saruvia brightened the room.
It seemed she had initially entered the room to provide food and clothes, as she set down garments and something to eat.
Just as Saruvia was about to leave the room, Ferre mustered the courage to grab her.
“W-What does that mean? Sera didn’t do anything wrong!”
Saruvia slowly turned her head to look back.
“Well, I guess that’s the nature of a demon.”
“Demon…?”
“But don’t worry, I don’t have a hobby of tormenting children. Be thankful for that. You don’t know how long you’ll be here, so eat and get dressed. The Emperor would be sad to see you both in such a mess.”
With a smirk, Saruvia closed the door with a click.
Rosé and Ferre remained silent, lost in despair, before finally gathering the strength to get off the bed.
Looking at the white clothes to change into, Rosé quietly murmured first.
“Se, Se, Sera….”
“She, she’s….”
She’s going to get killed?
Swallowing that terrifying thought, Rosé and Ferre shed tears.
The clothes and hair Sera had said were pretty were now completely ruined.
Struggling to remove the tightly fitted dresses and armor, the children changed into the new clothes.
They neatly folded the clothes they had taken off, their gaze lingering on one item.
“Ferre.”
“This.”
“It’s what Sera gave us at the palace.”
“Our magic brooch.”
The twins quietly took the brooch off the clothes and put it into their pockets.
