With a brief, almost sigh-like sound, the two of them lowered their gazes to their overlapping hands.
Startled, Sera tried to withdraw her hand quickly, but at that moment, Helios’s hand took advantage of the coincidence and intertwined his hand into hers.
“I’m sorry. I was trying to catch Rosé and Ferre…”
“Oh… No, Your Majesty. I acted the same way.”
As if nothing had happened, they exchanged words while gently removing their hands from each other’s grasp.
Both of them knew it was a ridiculous excuse, so they suppressed their smiles, biting their lips repeatedly.
Unbeknownst to them, Rosé and Ferre were looking at them intently, and Sera and Helios did their best to hide their expressions by lowering their heads.
“It’s a shame, but I should get up now. I have some plans for later.”
After a brief moment of managing their expressions, Helios lifted his face first.
Sera, her cheeks flushed, finally raised her head and met Helios’s gaze.
“I’ll come by in the evening. There are some things where I’ll need your help, Miss Popo.”
“Something that requires my help?”
“Oh, it’s nothing major, just a simple matter. Will Rosé and Ferre be okay to stay here with Miss Popo for a while?”
Helios, using various excuses to meet Sera, glanced at the children.
Rosé and Ferre glanced at Sera and Helios’s hands, then tilted their heads with mischievous smiles.
There seemed to be a somewhat suspicious atmosphere between the two.
“Uh… Yeah, sure. We get it, Heli Oppa.”
“We’ll listen well to Sera. Don’t worry, Hyung.”
Helios looked at Rosé, Ferre, and finally Sera, smiling beautifully.
Sera, with a brief nod, said goodbye to him as well.
Then at that moment.
Sera, who was standing, stumbled and lost her balance—
“Their Highnesses’ manifestation!”
The ground started shaking around the vicinity where Sera was standing right when Araella’s shouted.
Thanks to the swift response of the mages, the floor was instantly stabilized, but Sera was moments away from falling backward.
“Sera! Be careful!”
“You’re going to fall!”
As Rosé and Ferre, who were sitting on the bed, shouted, Sera thought she was going to hit her head hard on the floor.
However, despite her legs and lower back touching the hard floor, she felt no pain anywhere.
‘I’m not… hurt…?’
“Heli Oppa?”
“Sera?”
At the sound of Rosé and Ferre’s voices, Sera slowly opened her eyes.
Her hand was resting on Helios’s chest.
Sera hastily withdrew her hand and pressed both arms against the cold floor, causing her knees to reflexively rise.
Feeling her position becoming even more awkward, her face turned a fiery red.
She was lying beneath Helios. Their legs were entangled, and Helios was supporting himself with one arm on top of her.
The fact that her head hadn’t hit the floor was solely because Helios’s hand had protected her, cradling her.
“Are you okay, Miss Popo?”
Helios’s eyes widened in surprise at the unexpected situation. His gaze showed concern, checking if Sera was hurt.
“Oh! Yes, I’m… I’m fine, Your Majesty!”
Ba-dum, ba-dum, ba-dum.
Sera nodded her head nervously.
“Sera, are you okay?”
Ferre’s voice made both Sera and Helios reflexively turn their heads.
Rosé and Ferre were lying sprawled across the bed, craning their necks to look at them.
“Ke-hum…”
This time, a sound came right from beside them. They noticed four feet right next to them—they were Roward and Araella’s feet.
“Ahem, ahem!”
Roward turned his head, coughing awkwardly.
Araella, looking more surprised than anyone, stared blankly at the unfolding scene.
When her eyes met Sera’s, she jumped in shock.
It was only after Roward stomped a little that Araella, belatedly, turned around and stood with her back to them.
Even the palace maids were covering their eyes with both hands.
Only then did Helios also realize just how inappropriate their position was, and his face turned bright red.
“Um… Your Majesty. It’s a bit heavy…”
Carefully, Sera spoke, and Helios quickly got up. He turned his head and let out an incomprehensible groan before Sera even had a chance to stand up.
He wrapped his arms around her waist and lifted her up.
“Are you okay? Are you hurt?”
“I’m alright, Your Majesty.”
“Is there any pain in your ankles?”
“I’m not… really hurt, but… Your Majesty, could you, um, let go for a moment…”
Sera pointed at Helios’s hand, which was still on her waist.
He was surprised again and immediately withdrew his hand from her. Both of them avoided eye contact and awkwardly looked in different directions.
After a few coughs, Helios admonished the mages.
“Please be more careful so that no one gets hurt.”
“Yes… Your Majesty. We apologize and will be more diligent.”
Pretending to inspect the room for any more potential issues, Helios left first.
With her heart still pounding on the other hand, Sera asked for permission from Rosé and Ferre.
“I’ll… just go to the bathroom to straighten up my clothes for a moment.”
Once Sera left and the door closed, Ferre leaned toward Rosé, whispering.
“Rosé, you saw it, right? Between Sera and Hyung earlier?”
“I saw.”
“There’s something…”
Even the usually tactless Ferre was not oblivious to the atmosphere between the two, but he couldn’t exactly put a finger on what exactly was happening.
Unable to find the right words, Ferre mumbled, and Rosé whispered to him.
“You’re such a silly billy. I told you, that’s what adult love looks like.”
A mischievous smile played on Rosé’s lips.
It was the satisfied smile of someone who had confirmed the pinkish aura between Helios and Sera.
