Chapter 224

Rosé and Ferre each placed a hand on the other’s feverish foreheads. They pouted at the same time.
“I didn’t know it was gonna be a manifestation.”
The mage who visited just now informed the twins that they were having these symptoms not because of a cold, but because it was a precursor to their mana manifestation.
The children of the Adelio Empire would commonly go through the growing pains as the mana in their bodies was presenting itself. Rosé and Ferre had suffered through their first growing pains when they were babies, and this was the second time they were experiencing it.
But there was one problem here.
Growing pains caused by mana manifestation could not be treated by their older brother’s divine power.
This was because mana manifestation was not a disease, but a natural stage of growth.
“Oh, this is actually a good thing, Ferre.”
Rosé scrunched her eyes as she felt the pang of her headache.
“Why?”
Ferre turned sideways and looked at his sister.
“Since we’re really sick, Oppa’s gonna call Sera.”
“He will? But Heli Hyung said he’s just been saying ‘later’ all week long.”
“No way. Since it’s the first time we’re really really sick like this except when we were babies, he’s definitely gonna call her. I’m sure Heli Oppa’s gonna call Sera here if we beg enough while struggling.”
“Hmm, I dunno. Is Hyung gonna give in…?”
“Of course he will. Let’s tell Sera to come visit since we’re sick.”
“Mhm, I guess so. It’s better than giving up.”
Realizing that there was nothing wrong with her suggestion, Ferre snuggled back into his position on the bed.
While looking at the ceiling with bleary eyes, Ferre murmured.
“But Rosé, Heli Hyung was alone with Sera last time, so why does he keep saying later instead of inviting Sera to come here right away? Did he fight with Sera secretly? Why do Hyung and Sera always fight?”
As Rosé listened to Ferre, she was the one who turned to face him this time.
Giving her younger twin brother a knowing look, Rosé smiled lightly.
“Ferre. That’s what love is like with adults.”
“Love?”
“Yeah! Sera and Heli Oppa!”
“Really? Sera and Heli Hyung love each other?”
“You’ll see. It’s definitely gonna be like that.”
The giggling Rosé lay back down in the right position, but the smile on her face was soon wiped away because her head started ringing.
Not long after they closed their eyes due to their aching bodies, Helios visited the Star Palace.
The two children had their eyes closed until then, but the moment they felt a cool hand on each of their heads, they opened their eyes right away.
“Hyung!”
“Heli Oppa!”
The twins welcomed Helios with a cheerful greeting, though they furrowed their eyebrows in pain not long after. Sullen, they drooped down as their heads were buzzing.
They really couldn’t get used to the pain.
“Are you both okay?”
Helios’s sweet voice tickled their ears.
“No, Oppa. It hurts so, so, so much.”
“Hyung, me too. It hurts a lot.”
“No, I’m more sick than Ferre. It’s like there’s a heavy rock on my head.”
“She’s lying. Hyung, I’m even more sick because it feels like there’s a humongous crocodile biting my legs.”
“Hey, Ferre. That sounds more like a lie.”
While Rosé and Ferre made a big fuss, Helios carried them up in his arms.
He patted his two younger siblings on their backs, smiling slightly as he imagined Ferre’s uncommon figure of speech.
“Mhm. It does look like you’re both in a lot of pain. But in just a few days, your mana will be many times stronger, and you will be able to take magic classes.”
“Magic class?”
Rosé’s eyes went wide.
“Of course. After manifesting your mana, you’ll be able to cast spells properly.”
“Wow, that’s great!”
Ferre smiled happily as he nuzzled his warm cheeks onto Helios.
As Helios set them back down on the bed and rearranged the blankets around them, Rosé and Ferre made eye contact with each other.
Exchanging that wordless signal, the twins then proceeded with their secret plan. Whether it was just acting or not, they both started to whine.
“Oppa, it hurts sooooo much. Can you grant us a wish?”
“A wish?”
“Uh-huh. Hyung, it hurts very very very much, so can you give us a wish?”
Ferre whined as though he was truly in a lot of pain. There were even tears in the corners of his eyes.
Thinking that they’d wish for him to stay by their side, Helios smiled with an expression that’s like a gentle breeze. He caressed the foreheads of his two younger siblings and answered.
“Of course.”
Rosé and Ferre grinned.
“Bring Sera here. Tell her to come and see us.”
“What?”
Taken aback, Helios paused.
“Hyung, it hurts so much, I just wanna see Sera so badly.”
“Yeah, Oppa. I miss Sera sooooooo much that I just really wanna see her.”
Rosé and Ferre groaned while squeezing the edge of their blanket.
“Heli Hyung, just one time! It really hurts so much. Can’t you grant our wish?”
“Yeah, Oppa. Tell Sera to visit, even just one time.”
With desperation in their eyes, the twins gazed up at Helios tearfully.
“Ah…”
Helios rebuked himself belatedly. He should have seen this coming.
They’d been whining about this for a few days now. They really wanted to see Sera again.
He felt apologetic towards his younger siblings, but he had just been putting off Sera’s visit by giving them one excuse after another.
There was no particular reason.
It’s just that… He couldn’t steel his resolve. If his younger siblings were to call Sera here, he’s sure that he wouldn’t be able to endure it at all—he’d rationalize it somehow and go see her without a moment of hesitation.
Helios did not want to run into Sera in that way again.
He didn’t want to hurt her with his ambiguous actions. She’d be even more confused than he was himself.
After they had met at the opera house, he didn’t want to admit it, but it was clear that she was uncomfortable around him.
‘But now…’
Helios looked at Rosé and Ferre quietly for a moment, but he immediately gave his permission.
“Alright. I’ll ask Miss Popo to come here.”
They’re supposed to be sick, as they said, but Rosé and Ferre’s faces instantly lit up. It’s no surprise to see his silly little siblings acting this way though, so with an unenthused smile, Helios got up from his seat.
The chief handmaiden who was watching from behind Helios approached him and quietly delivered the mage’s words.
“The symptoms are likely to appear starting tonight, Your Majesty.”
“Is that so?”
“I’ll be sure to have any items that could pose a danger cleared away.”
“Yes, thank you.”
Hearing this, Rosé and Ferre grabbed Helios’s arm.
“Oppa, what symptoms?”
“What kind of symptoms, Hyung?”
With an expression that’s telling them not to worry, Helios whispered to them softly.
“Mana manifestation is a riotous process.”
