I Became the Tutor of the Royal Twins - Chapter 205
Chapter 205

‘An umbrella really would’ve been no use against this rain.’
As Sera reached her room after running through the pouring rain, she examined her condition.
From her hair to her clothes, her entire body was drenched, and she was tracking water onto the carpet.
Just as Jean said, even an umbrella wouldn’t be effective since one would be soaked within seconds of stepping out into that torrent.
Sitting down, she groaned as she struggled to take off her wet shoes.
The rain had permeated the inner lining of the shoes, so it wouldn’t come off right away. In the end, it popped off and bounced away.
She stared blankly at the removed shoes, yet all that she could see in her head was Helios’s expression when she confessed to him.
‘Was I too discourteous?’
Confessing her feelings wasn’t as difficult as she thought it would be.
The moment her feelings overflowed from her heart, it was impossible to stop.
However, what bothered her now was Helios’s reaction after hearing her confession. It didn’t look good.
Perhaps it was only natural for him to look so conflicted because she made such a rude confession.
Until there, she could still bear it.
However, after that he swept a hand over his face as though it was much too difficult for him to listen to her words.
‘It looked like… he got angry. I really crossed the line.’
He looked at her with such a deep frown.
It was not her first time seeing Helios angry, but the one and only time that she did see him like that was when he had punished Duke Bethmann. Before this, the emperor always faced her with a smile, but that must be gone now.
She thought that it would be alright to confess to His Majesty.
Since His Majesty was treating her as if she was special, it might be okay to go through with that confession.
Without thinking about her low status, she blurted out that she liked him. It wouldn’t be strange if she was laughed at after this.
Helios even went so far as to say that she was just a tutor to him before her confession, so it must have been unpleasant for him to hear.
‘You fool.’
Sera whispered to herself.
She couldn’t remember his expression when she hastily apologized.
She thought that her heart would finally feel lighter after she had poured out all of her feelings. However, contrary to her expectations, it just felt heavier.
It just felt more painful.
No. She must just be frustrated and upset because of the rain. That’s the reason why she was uncomfortable.
“But this is fine. I’ll be able to let it all go after this.”
Reciting the words with determination, Sera wiped away her tears with the back of her hand.
Just a little while later, she would have to see His Majesty again.
She needed to act surprised for the children, so it would be better to forget about this uncomfortable feeling and pull herself together.
‘I’ll feel better once I take a shower and change my clothes.’
Taking off her drenched clothes, Sera forcibly recalled the twins, who would be delighted to receive their special gifts.
Then, she felt like she could breathe again.
* * *
‘It’s suffocating.’
At this very moment, Jean was sincerely regretting the fact that he had been sent as a sentry by Rosé and Ferre.
No matter how tactless he was, even he could fully understand that the current atmosphere was strange.
Usually, with or without him, the two people here right now would become immersed in their conversation whenever they’re together. However, they were completely silent right now.
“It’s raining a lot.”
Jean pointed towards the window for no reason and tried to alleviate the heavy silence.
“That’s right.”
“Yes.”
“It looks like it’s going to rain all day long. Don’t you think so, too?”
“Yes.”
“It seems like it.”
“It will rain tomorrow as well, won’t it?”
“Perhaps.”
“It’s likely.”
Neither Sera nor Helios were angry, but they answered so strangely.
Contrary to Jean’s valiant efforts, conversation refused to flow.
He tried to open the door to various other mundane topics, but it was all in vain.
In the end, Jean hesitantly asked Sera.
“U…umm. Are you doing alright, Miss Sera?”
The redness around Sera’s eyes made it apparent that she had cried not long ago.
“Of course I am.”
Sera answered with a smile.
“Heli… You’re also okay, right?”
“Of course.”
Helios answered briefly and brought the corners of his lips slightly upwards.
“A-hem, ahem.”
However, the silence continued to stretch out.
Jean looked sideways at Sera and Helios that the situation here was quite the opposite of their answers.
‘Nope. These two aren’t fine.’
Despite Sera and Heli’s answers, Jean was convinced of this fact.
The atmosphere between the two of them was heavily awkward. It even felt as if a glacial wind was passing through.
They had been standing here for about five minutes now, but not once had these two looked at each other. And they seemed greatly conscious of the other.
‘At first, I thought it’s just because of the farewell party.’
As Sera and Helios’s features were completely devoid of their usual smiles, there was no doubt about it. Something’s wrong.
When Jean asked earlier about what had happened, Helios didn’t answer him either. So, Jean also felt greatly uncomfortable, as if he was sitting on a thorn cushion.
“Um… I’ll go ahead inside and help Their Highnesses finish up the preparations, so please only come in when I give you the signal. I think it would be nice to pretend that you’re surprised, Miss Sera. Their Highnesses don’t know that you’re already aware of the party.”
“Yes, I’ll pretend to be surprised.”
“Then, Heli and Sera, after two coughs, that’s when you both come in.”
Wanting to escape that awkward situation as soon as he could, Jean hurriedly conveyed these instructions and soon disappeared behind the door.
So, Helios and Sera waited for Jean’s signal.
The only other people in the hallway were the unmoving knights who were stationed as guards there. The drizzling rain still continued.
As they waited longer than they expected, Helios glanced at Sera.
Holding a heavy bag with the gifts, kept her eyes fixed on the door calmly.
Helios was about to say that it’s alright for her to set the bag down for now, but at that moment, Sera turned to face him first.
“Your Majesty.”
“Yes, Miss Popo. Go ahead.”
Sera’s eyes widened a little, surprised by his answer. However, as she hesitated, a dark look flashed over her expression for a moment.
Then, making a firm decision, she clenched her bag tightly.
“It was a mistake for me to have said that, Your Majesty. You are always so kind and fair towards your subjects, and I took that for granted. I apologize for saying something so rude, and I apologize for putting you in a difficult spot.”
