Confined Together with the Horror Game’s Male Lead - Chapter 190
Chapter 190

Dietrich was unsettled.
Emily. Emily.
She was all he could think about, occupying his mind completely.
From the first moment he’d seen her at the estate, a certain presence had come to mind—a demon he, a foolish paladin, had dared to love.
“Commander, as you instructed, we’ve narrowed down the potential targets and suspects for the next crime.”
Dietrich had been in the dining hall of the Hyden estate, in the middle of a meal, when his subordinates returned promptly with their findings.
They spread the gathered reports across the table in front of him.
“We’ve identified three criminals who are likely targets. One committed assault on a woman, another is a murderer who slaughtered an entire family, and the last one set fire to a brothel, causing multiple deaths.”
“Weren’t all of them supposed to be in prison?”
“Yes, but they were recently released on bail.”
“Bail? For crimes like these?”
Under normal circumstances, such severe crimes would result in a death sentence. The most lenient outcome might be the loss of both hands, but that all three would simply be bailed out was beyond belief.
“It seems the lord here has no interest in crimes of this nature, focusing only on his own enterprises, which don’t seem to be going well either.”
“It’s left this whole estate in shambles.”
As Dietrich listened to his subordinates’ report, he felt a sharp irritation about Emily being in this estate, let alone as the lord’s concubine.
“But, Commander, there’s a rumor that you struck down the lord?”
Selek, clearly curious, asked Dietrich, pressing further.
“Did you really? They say it was a lovers’ quarrel over the lord’s concubine. Is it true?”
Dietrich remained silent, unable to deny it, which made his subordinates react with shock.
“Commander… what happened? You weren’t like this three years ago. Back then, you were… well—”
“Enough.”
Dietrich rose from his seat, making Selek look at him questioningly.
“I have somewhere to be.”

“Emily? You mean Sister Emily? She hasn’t come in today,” the elderly nun informed him with a tired expression as Dietrich entered the church.
Her face showed visible irritation at his question, as though many people had come looking for Emily recently.
“…Would you mind telling me when Sister Emily might arrive?”
Dietrich asked, still taken aback by referring to her as Sister Emily.
At the end of the day, she was the lord’s concubine, and the lord despised her venturing outside the estate. So, why was she pretending to be a nun in this church?
“I’m sorry, but what’s your relationship to her? I can’t give you that information otherwise.”
“……”
“I’ll pass on the message if she returns. Please go now.”
With that, the old nun coolly dismissed Dietrich.
“Understood. But I’d like to offer my prayers. Surely, you wouldn’t deny me that?”
“…Of course not. This way, please.”
Dietrich followed the nun into the church’s interior. Despite looking small from the outside, the church’s inside was surprisingly spacious.
Stained-glass windows cast colorful lights across the room, and murals depicting scenes from mythological tales adorned the walls.
He seated himself in the center of the empty chapel. The nun observed him briefly before leaving.
The estate was strange, but none of it seemed directly related to the rumors about the Lindbergh demon.
The crumbling estate, the mysterious Emily…
Lost in thought, Dietrich rested his arm on the long pew, pondering the oddities of the place.
Then, from somewhere, there was a faint thud.
Dietrich turned his head toward the sound.
The old nun had left some time ago, and the chapel was now silent, save for him.
But then, there it was again—a quiet, persistent thumping.
Dietrich’s gaze landed on an unremarkable door in the corner of the chapel.
He rose and moved toward the small room.
Thud. Thud.
The third sound confirmed it. Someone was struggling inside that room.
He approached and knocked on the door. In response, the thumping grew more frantic.
Something was definitely wrong with this church.
Grabbing the door handle, Dietrich turned it, but it was locked.
He took a moment to consider, then decided to apply force.
With a loud creak, he pulled until the locked door finally gave way, mercifully without breaking the handle.
Inside, he was stunned by the sight that awaited him.
A woman, tightly bound, was slumped against the wall.
“…Emily?”
It was indeed her.
Dietrich rushed to her side.
“Emily, are you alright? What happened…?”
She didn’t respond—it seemed she’d lost consciousness after that last struggle.
Cold sweat dripped from her chin, and her head lolled forward, her platinum hair falling to cover the marks on her neck.
Panicked, Dietrich took her in his arms, giving her a gentle shake. A faint groan escaped her lips.
Hurriedly, he began untying the ropes that bound her.
“…Dietrich?”
Emily’s voice, weak but clear, called out to him.
Her lips parted slightly, and just as a relieved smile spread across his face…
Emily’s hands shot up and wrapped around his neck.
Strangling him.
