Becoming the Villain’s Family - Chapter 294
Chapter 294
He sighed and pulled Aria’s waist closer, planting a kiss on her shoulder.
“That one’s lucky.”
Lloyd regretted not pursuing Gabriel to the end when he swept through the temple.
Left unchecked, Gabriel had somehow become a symbol of hope among the people of Garcia.
‘I could make it look like an accident, but…’
It would only complicate matters. The people of Garcia, having lost their hero, might riot, giving the remnants of Eden faith an opportunity to stir trouble.
Then, Lloyd would have to sacrifice time meant for his family. He couldn’t justify doing that just to crush a mere cockroach.
‘…Aria would be saddened.’
There are lines that he should not cross as a human being. Things like ethics and morality.
Since meeting Aria, Lloyd had never crossed that line – except in the case of utter trash that is not worth toying with the line.
‘Though dim-witted, unfortunately he’s not trash.’
So, as usual, he endured. Because Aria wished for it. If so, he should comply.
“Lloyd?”
As Lloyd pressed his lips to Aria’s delicate neck, he gnawed gently on her jaw.
Aria blushed as she noticed the servants trailing behind with luggage.
“We should be heading to the audience chamber now…”
The servants were quick to notice. They discreetly led the Valentines not to the audience chamber, but to a guest room.
“You should kiss me.”
“All of a sudden?”
“Every moment with you is precious.”
Caught off guard by Lloyd suddenly pressing his lips to her, Aria flailed her arms. Lloyd caught her hands and guided them around his neck.
“Uhp!”
As if he would suffocate if he parted from her lips, Lloyd took her breath away.
‘What’s gotten into him being so obsessed now?’
He really had no timing.
As Aria tried to push away from his firm chest as it was not the time. She remembered the nightmare he had mentioned in the carriage.
Since then, his mood had been off.
‘If it’s a nightmare Lloyd’s having…’
The conclusion was obvious. There was only one thing Lloyd had ever feared in his life.
Losing Aria.
Losing the mundane, everyday life he had just begun to grasp in his hand. The simple days filled with chatter, laughter, and love.
‘Don’t be afraid.’
As if to convey that message, Aria gently stroked his back, responding to his kiss.
In the end, she was unable to meet the King until morning dawned.
Aria had probably managed only an hour of sleep.
She blinked her groggy eyes and pulled up the sliding blanket.
She felt a faint apology to the King, the former head of Angelo, who must have been eagerly waiting for his distant daughter’s arrival.
“… .”
Aria gazed down at Lloyd, who slept peacefully like an angel.
If only he could always be this tranquil, without being a beast day and night.
It was worrisome that he might bite someone during the day. But it was also worrisome that he would bite her at night.
‘To think he was so shy about it.’
She couldn’t recall how many times she had called him ‘Brother’ yesterday. He teased her until she called him while panting again and again…..
‘Perhaps, the nightmare he mentioned was just a ploy for his own desires.’
Such suspicions crept in because she was exhausted. Lately, his innocent act had reached new heights.
“Wake up, Brother.”
With a noticeably sarcastic look, Aria shook Lloyd’s shoulder. She planned to argue for separate rooms if he was going to keep her from sleeping.
“Ack!”
Suddenly, her wrist was grabbed fiercely. With a grip that didn’t control his strength.
Tears welled up from the pain before she knew it, then she was swiftly thrown onto the soft bed.
Startled, Aria blinked up in confusion. Lloyd’s grip tightened around her neck as if to strangle her.
“….”
“….”
Aria had never seen such a look in Lloyd’s eyes before.
A blatant murderous intent made her skin prickle, as if her soul could be shredded by his fiercely glinting eyes…..
She winced in pain. It seemed Lloyd was still half-asleep.
“…Siren?”
He finally murmured, looking at her in disbelief. The grip on Aria’s neck gradually loosened.
“…cough, cough!”
She coughed violently while curling up her body.
Even then, Lloyd just stared at her silently.
“It doesn’t make sense. You were dead.”
“….”
You were the one who is about to kill me just now.
Aria stared at Lloyd, who still seemed out of his senses, through narrowed eyes.
‘So, his nightmare was real.’
He had confused dream and reality for a moment. That was Aria’s conclusion.
With a more subdued voice, she called out to him.
“Lloyd.”
She wondered what to say and how to comfort him.
Her anger should wait until the person could understand, until he was calm enough to listen. So, she asked calmly.
“Are you awake?”
“….”
“Then, can you move out for a moment?”
But Lloyd didn’t seem ready to listen quietly.
“Where is this? Hell?”
“No, we’re on earth.”
“That can’t be. I destroyed the world. With my own hands.”
“Did you have another bad dream?”
Aria began to feel uneasy. Lloyd had never been this disturbed before.
“Lloyd, this is reality.”
“Reality…”
As Aria wrapped her arms around Lloyd’s neck and gently pulled him closer, even in his bewildered state, he was drawn in by her slight touch.
“The world is fine. So are we.”
Aria whispered softly in his ear while holding him tightly.
