Zitlar Sowar
As the head of the Wizard Association, Zitlar was the highest-ranking figure among wizards. With his long silver hair and cold blue eyes, he exuded both power and authority. Although incredibly powerful, he was famously known for refusing to take on apprentices. Many sought to learn from him, yet he would only teach those he deemed worthy—and so far, none had ever fully satisfied his standards.
However, he held respect for Dreikan as a fellow wizard. Dreikan, the only wizard recognized by Zitlar, wielded considerable influence within the Wizard Association.
Today, while practicing in the wizard’s tower, Dreikan received a letter from Zitlar and made his way to the latter’s office.
Having reached the pinnacle of magic attainable by humans, Zitlar no longer needed further training. Instead, he focused on administrative duties.
When Dreikan entered the office, he found Zitlar tidying up some documents.
“You’re here.”
Zitlar said as he noticed Dreikan.
Dreikan gave a slight smile and narrowed his eyes.
“You called for me, so of course I came.”
He replied, bowing his head.
“A magic stone has been reported in the Balkan territory.”
“A magic stone? Was it discovered by a wizard?”
“A magic stone, you say? Was it discovered by a wizard?”
“Not an official wizard, but a wizard nonetheless.”
Zitlar replied with a subtle smile.
“It must be His Highness Cassel.”
“That’s right.”
Dreikan had attended the academy with Cassel.
‘Cassel Jen Roten.’
Cassel, now a prince.
He had such a remarkable grasp of theory that the wizard professors had often praised him. Many had even said they would gladly train him as a wizard if he only possessed magical ability.
He was always such an annoying guy.’
Walking around with his head held high, always taking the top position.
Cassel was someone he had wanted to avoid, yet fate somehow kept placing him in the same group as Cassel. They had even shared the same dorm room, which had been exhausting.
So, he had thought their paths would finally part after graduation. And yet, here he was, being asked to see him again.
“Am I going there?”
“You two were acquainted, after all.”
‘…Acquainted? Hardly.’
They had only attended the academy together; that was all. They hadn’t exchanged letters since graduation, nor had they kept in touch. It wasn’t as though he held any grudge or wanted to bother Cassel, but Dreikan resented him for always being so exceptional.
“Should I go investigate the magic stone?”
“Yes, do that. And tell him he should visit the Wizard Association sometime.”
Zitlar spoke with a surprisingly gentle tone.
“By now, it could be revealed, but he still remains silent.”
“What are you talking about?”
Zitlar looked at Dreikan at his words. For all his complaints, Dreikan was someone he could trust with secrets.
“He’s my only apprentice.”
Dreikan’s expression froze.
“W-What did you say?”
“Before Prince Cassel entered the academy, he was my apprentice.”
For a moment, Dreikan was at a loss for words.
Zitlar’s apprentice.
He knew what that title meant in the wizarding world. And yet, Cassel had kept it to himself, and Zitlar had never mentioned it either.
“He chose swordsmanship, saying it suited him better. It seems he’s completely forgotten this master of his.”
This was the first time he had seen Zitlar show such affection toward anyone. Dreikan clenched his fists, then forced a smile before replying.
Concealing his emotions as best he could, Dreikan spoke with a smile.
“I’ll discreetly mention it to Prince Cassel.”
“Thank you for that.”
“I’ve already sent a letter ahead, letting them know I’ll arrive around tomorrow, so I’ll go ahead.”
Leaving with a smile, Dreikan stepped outside the office before he leaned against the door and lowered his head.
Despite the fact that he had always dreamed of becoming Zitlar’s apprentice, he hadn’t succeeded. It was every wizard’s ultimate goal, not just his own.
“Seriously!”
Watching that man act so unaffected by everything only made his frustration grow. It grated on him that Cassel possessed abilities he didn’t have. Still, he had to do his job, and that meant heading to the Balkan territory.
With the warp, he would arrive by tomorrow.
Dreikan walked down the hallway listlessly.

The great thing about teleportation was how quickly items could arrive. Leilia was pleased when the things from her treasure trove finally showed up. She had thought she’d never get the chance to use them in her lifetime, but now she had the excuse that they were sent with the sponsorship of the Hyllan Merchants Association.
‘It’s like giving myself a gift.’
Such occasions were rare, so she wasn’t quite sure how to feel.
Cassel, who had been watching her from the side, spoke up.
“Was there really this much in the vault?”
“It was quite difficult back when I lived at home, so I collected a lot.”
