After I Sent the Divorce Letter, My Husband Went Mad - Chapter 29
Chapter 15.1

There wasn’t much to pack. Aside from the armor and sword given by Leilia, he had organized everything, including the occasional change of clothes.
Sheathing his sword at his waist, he rode up to the capital and looked towards the mansion.
From his own perspective, the mansion was small.
Throughout history, princes who participated in previous battlefields were practically going to their death, and since most of them hailed from lesser noble families, the imperial family didn’t extend them a warm reception. The significance of their presence only seemed to manifest after their untimely demise, as the surviving widows were provided with substantial consolation money—a gesture aimed at appeasing public opinion.
After handing the paper with a blue butterfly drawn on it that was given from Chelias, the knights peered at Cassel before opening the door. Entering the mansion, he slowly glanced around the inside. It seemed that some attendants had already come in and were tidying up the house.
When they saw him, they bowed their heads and greeted him.
“My name Aaron, the butler.”
Aaron was a middle-aged man with dark hair.
“Your Highness’s room is here.”
Upon hearing his words, Cassel slowly scanned the room. The small room was furnished with bookshelves, a desk, and a bed.
Cassel nodded as he looked at the dry and barren room.
It didn’t matter what your room was like.
“I want to see my wife’s room.”
He swiftly instructed Aaron to lead him to Leilia’s room.
As they opened the door, their eyes were met with exquisitely painted wallpaper that adorned the walls with delicate patterns and vibrant colors. The room was bathed in a soft glow emanating from a dainty chandelier that hung gracefully from the ceiling, casting a warm and inviting ambiance. Though smaller in scale compared to his own room, each piece showcased meticulous attention to detail.
“His Excellency has gifted the chandelier.”
Aaron’s words reminded Cassel of him.
He decided to accept the favor of the Chancellor. Without the chandelier, Leilia’s room would have looked rather empty. Still, this was the room she would live in, so he wanted it to be beautiful and fitting for her. Fortunately, Chelias seemed to have discerned his intentions and took great care to ensure it was just that.
After exploring the room further, he returned to his own room and unpacked his belongings.
On that evening, while gazing at his sharp sword, he received a visit from Leshulean. With the arrival of the Emperor, who had come by carriage to the mansion, Aaron busily moved around.
Greeting the Emperor in the parlor, Cassel bowed his head.
“The deal with Count Eloisa has been completed. Although he demanded a substantial amount of compensation, which was quite annoying, I had anticipated it to some extent.”
Crossing his legs as he leaned back in the chair, Leshulean raised his teacup. As he drank his tea, he exhaled.
“Now, everything is ready. The article will be published tomorrow, and you will be introduced as the son of my first love.”
“Does Your Majesty have to say it exactly like that?”
“It’s true.”
Cassel’s eyes widened at his words.
“At least, it’s true that I loved your mother.”
“I thought Your Majesty intended to leave her to your mistress.”
“You even know something that’s useless.”
However, Leshulean didn’t deny it.
“Anyway, prepare to shed tears in moderation. You’ll have to leave for the battlefield the day after tomorrow, so the wedding vows will be held tomorrow.”
Finishing his words, Leshulean stood up.

The next day, Cassel rode in the carriage with Leshulean.
‘…Maybe I’ve done something irreversible.’
In the end, driven by an overwhelming desire, he succumbed to the temptation and claimed her as his own. Unable to resist, he chose her when the opportunity presented itself. However, a wave of concern washed over Cassel’s heart, belatedly realizing the potential sadness Leilia might feel upon hearing the news of their marriage.
He had risked everything, even his life, to choose her, but what if she didn’t want him? He wondered if tears filled her eyes upon receiving the news.
‘…What will become of us?’
He chose her, even though he was just the Emperor’s illegitimate child… even knowing that, he couldn’t let her go.
He had chosen her despite being the Emperor’s illegitimate child…
Even though he was fully aware of that, he couldn’t bear the thought of letting her go.
During the wedding vow ceremony and the subsequent drinking session, it seemed that Leilia found solace in alcohol. Her expressions and gestures made it clear that she longed to escape from the gathering as quickly as possible.
‘Perhaps she doesn’t like me?’
After all, he was just one of the many conservatees.
Yes, he didn’t know if she had someone in her heart.
…Still, he couldn’t let her go.
His feelings for her had grown immeasurably, and they had already sealed their marriage vows. He was determined to hold onto her, to cherish her as his beloved wife.
Not wanting her to get drunk, he reached out his hand to her. Leilia, with her eyes filled with unspoken meaning, silently accepted his gesture. The warmth emanating from her touch was intoxicating as if he could get lost in that warmth alone.
He entered the room and waited for Leila to come out.
And it was their first kiss that happened.
