Chapter 14.2

The whole deal was completed.
…Leilia would be his wife, and he would claim her.
His mind was racing.
A feeling of guilt toward her hovered around him, but it quickly faded. Instead, her possessiveness and longing for her raged in his mind as Cassel pressed against his chest without saying a word.
“Move your residence to the capital. There are many things to prepare.”
With these words, Leshulean left in his carriage while Chelias agreed to stay behind with Cassel to take care of the rest of the business.
“First of all, we have prepared a small mansion. After the marriage, Young Lady Leilia will be staying there.”
“Is it small?”
Chelias laughed at Cassel’s comment.
“A prince who goes to the battlefield usually dies. When they die, their wives will be treated generously.”
He had heard of it, too. Cassel clicked his tongue and nodded, wishing Leilia would stay and live in the splendid mansion.
“When Your Highness comes to the capital, you can move your luggage to this address.”
Saying so, Chelias handed him two pieces of paper, one with an address and the other with a blue butterfly on it.
“Give this to them, and the knights will let you in.”
“All right.”
The wind blew softly.
The lights in the hotel were so intense that he couldn’t even see the sky. He remembered the night I walked away from Leilia, the night he was bathed in darkness… the next time they met again, it would be time to take her as his wife.
…Wouldn’t Leilia blame him?
Not only that, but it would be with a husband who was going to die.
“It’s going to be difficult if you go to the battlefield.”
“I know.”
Nonetheless, he had no intention of dying. He was going to live to fight another day and claim Leilia for himself. Still, this thought didn’t come out of his mouth. It was because he didn’t know how Chelias would interpret those words.
As if sensing his wariness, Chelias smirked and handed Cassel a small envelope.
“What’s this?”
“Open it.”
When he opened the envelope, there was a check.
“Is this…?”
“You’ll also need to buy a wedding ring, and that’s going to cost some money. His Majesty’s budget was low, so it’s a shame.”
Then, Chelias narrowed his eyes and smiled as he continued.
“His Majesty says that what His Highness Cassel wants is a person. Whom do you desire?”
That was what he was curious about.
“I want Leilia Eloisa.”
“Ah, she was a smart girl. The unfortunate young lady who was confined by her family.”
Chelias nodded as if remembering as he went on.
“She’s the Young Lady I met as a student representative when I visited the academy. You’re risking your life for such a young lady, but are you going to go to the battlefield and die?”
He asked sincerely.
Cassel looked at the check as one corner of his mouth raised up.
“I’ll survive, but why are you doing this to me?”
Cassel narrowed his eyes.
Chelias was a chancellor, and there was no need for him to curry favor with him in this way.
“It has nothing to do with His Majesty if Your Highness dies.”
Pausing his words for a little, Chelias tilted his head slightly.
“In war, the strong survive. I’m interested in Your Highness, who is supported by the Hyllan merchants association.”
As expected… he thought if this story would come up.
“It’s difficult to figure it out because it’s so veiled, but should I say that I’m Putting my faith in His Highness Cassel, who has been supported by the guild for a long time?”
“What do you mean, expect?”
“I’ll tell you the details after the war, but His Majesty the Emperor doesn’t know what happened at the Hyllan merchants. What he doesn’t know, and what the other princes don’t know, will be to the advantage of Your Highness Cassel’s survival.”
“On the battlefield?”
“Isn’t power a weapon when it’s hidden?”
Chelias was right.
He could see why it would be kept hidden.
“Please be careful what you say.”
It also meant not to tell the Emperor about it.
Cassel closed his eyes for a moment at his incomprehensible action.
“I understand.”
Even though he didn’t know what Chelias was up to, he decided to wait and see for now.
